In 1991, William Shipley and Janet Chennault discussed the current
state of laboratory information system technology and found it
similar to that of the typesetting industry in 1980. Seeing an
opportunity to establish the next generation of laboratory systems,
they began to develop SchuyLab, built on the graphical interface
and networking William had developed for typesetting systems. The
result is SchuyLab, a modern graphical LIS which is both inexpensive
and easy to use.
SchuyLab is specifically designed to serve physician's office
laboratories, reference laboratories, and moderate size hospital
laboratories (the network system has unlimited potential). We include
installation and initial training in the purchase price, and provide
monthly maintenance in an on-going contract. A single SchuyLab
station with two or three online instruments can handle all of
the processing necessary for a small laboratory, and is easily
expandable to a network to keep pace with lab growth without loss
of the initial LIS investment.
William Shipley, President of Schuyler House & Chief System
Architect:
William has twenty years experience as systems programmer for
mainframe systems, including ten years as manager of technical
support for a national publishing firm. In the 1980's he led
the development of a series of computer typesetting systems which
made the transition to PC/Network based systems in 1986.
Jan Chennault, Vice President of Schuyler House & System Architect:
Jan has a BA in Biology, BS in Medical Technology, ASCP
and California Registries, and seventeen years experience as a
Medical Technologist. She has a long term interest and involvement
in LIS systems.
